[(New KingJames Version(NKJV)]

This psalm is titled "Praise to the Word of God", with numerous references throughout. Notably, Psalm 119 is considered a complete acrostic corresponding to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet (aleph, etc.). As a wisdom psalm it is considered the premier song about the "Torah" (The Law of God = The Word of God in the Old Testament: OT). Here the law of God is not considered a "curse" but a gift from God, which instructs both the daily life and future destiny of Israel. The psalmist is overwhelmed with praise for the mercy and goodness of God through the Law.

The Torah refers to the general instructions/directions presented to Moses and specifically refers to the first five books of the OT. It was understood that the Law was not a legalistic means of salvation but a sign of the gracious covenantal relationship, initiated by God with Israel, to teach them how to live as God's holy people.

The Word of God/The Law of God (OT) is referenced by several descriptive terms used to reveal it's various characteristics.  Between verses 1 to 88, eight words are used a total of 91 times to emphasis the author's understanding of The Word of God/The Law of God (OT) meanings.

Those eight words/phrases include: the law of the A) L__________, B) His test___________, C) His w_______, D) Your pr____________, E) Your st____________, F) Your c____________________, G) Your righteous j_______________ and H) Your w_______(God-spoken).

A)  Refers to God's role and rule of conduct/behavior, not restriction of liberties
B)  Reveals the mind/heart of God
C)  Refers to the manner/mode of life/lifestyle of God's holy people
D)  Refers to the guidance and counsel God gives
E)  Laws decreed often in written form
F)  Teaching "the rules of the road" through mandated/edited teaching
G) Examination/Evaluation, justice and fairness, with consequences/results not on the basis of outward   appearances, personal opinions or unsubstantiated suspicions
H)  Message from God to come in various methods

Consider the following:

v. 11__________________________________________________________________________________
v. 18__________________________________________________________________________________
vv 25, 28, 32 R_______________ S____________________ E_______________

I am thankful for our time in Bible study. So often I read scriptures during my study time and not understand them fully. I don't think I have ever fully took time and really read this scripture. Bible study is that time where i learn to pull back the layers of the scriptures for deeper understanding.

Thank you for teaching us and delving into the Word to make it plain. It's weird how Psalm 119 is relating to today's events.
